With the Music Man StingRay Special RW Grape Crush, the traditional Californian company is revamping the popular 4-string E-Bass with a series of welcome features without denying the virtues that have been tried and tested since 1976. Accordingly, the E-Bass features a hardwood body with adapted contours, while the bolt-on neck is made from roasted maple and has a rosewood fingerboard with 22 stainless steel frets. A Music Man standard neodymium humbucker and the active 18 volt 3-band tone control furthermore deliver a particularly flexible, subtly modernized sound without ignoring the distinctive StingRay character. Last but not least, the StingRay Special RW Grape Crush Bass has a solid Music ManVintage top-load bridge and Music ManCustom lightweight tuners specially developed for this model.

The oiled and waxed roasted maple neck of the Music Man StingRay Special can be comfortably played up to the highest registers thanks to the sculpted neck joint.
Traditional construction with new contours
For the construction of the StingRay Special bass guitar, Music Man relies on a body made from carefully selected hardwood (Select Hardwood), which sits even more comfortably on the body thanks to the revised contours and thus guarantees optimum handling. The neck, on the other hand, is made from roasted maple, which is insensitive to climatic changes thanks to the thermal treatment. Thanks to the fivefold screw joint with sculpted neck joint, the rosewood fingerboard can be played furthermore up to the 22nd stainless steel fret without any problems.
With the powerful Music Man neodymium humbucker and an active 3-band tone control, the Music Man StingRay Special delivers particularly versatile sounds.
Neodymium pickup and 18-volt preamp
The pickup on the StingRay Special RW Grape Crush is a Music Man standard neodymium humbucker specially developed for this model. The powerful magnetic material not only promises increased output, but also supports a broad sound image with the characteristic sound character of the bass classic from San Luis Obispo. In addition, the active electronics typical of StingRay basses are available, whose operating frequencies for bass, mid-range and treble have been revised and therefore always deliver a musical sound, even at extreme settings. Thanks to the operating voltage of 18 volts, the Music ManPreamp has increased headroom for a particularly clean and detailed output, even when the strings are struck forcefully

Lightweight Music Man hardware
Last but not least, the Music Man StingRay Special RW Grape Crush impresses with its optimized hardware equipment. The headstock features four Music ManCustom lightweight bass tuners in the traditional "3+1" arrangement, which use lightweight materials to counteract unwanted top-heaviness. In conjunction with the compensated nut, the lightweight tuners also guarantee precise and robust tuning. A Music Man Vintage top-load bridge made of steel is used on the body, which not only ensures precise adjustment of the intonation and string action, but also supports the distinctive sound character of the bass guitar.
