Alder body & roasted figured maple neck
The alder/maple wood combination that is well-known and appreciated among Music Man instruments is also used in the StingRay II Cory Wong. While the body has the classic slim design of the StingRay, the intensely grained maple neck has undergone a roasting process to further improve stability and resonance. Thanks to the hand-applied Gunstock Oil & Special Wax Blend finish, handling of the fretting hand is well taken care of. This means that the StingRay II Cory Wong can be easily played up to the highest positions of the rosewood fingerboard, which has 22 stainless steel frets.
Music Man Custom Wound HT Cory Wong Humbucker
The two Music Man Custom Wound HT Cory Wong humbuckers have been specially optimized for Cory's particular sound and offer an extremely even tonal balance, and tight rhythm playing is clearly contoured and crisp. The wide dynamic range is an absolute specialty here. With the right amp settings, the StingRay II Cory Wong can be easily driven across the dynamic range from articulate cleans to cheeky rock shredding. Both pickups are wired in the classic 3-way manner and have common volume and tone controls.
