The Moog Sub Phatty is a 25 key, monophonic analogue synthesizer that brings new sound design tools to the classic control design that Moog are famous for .
The latest addition to the Phatty family, The Sub Phatty is Moog’s dirtiest, grittiest, most sound bending synthesizer to date, endowed with 2 variable waveshape oscillators, a square-wave sub oscillator and a noise generator. This blend of features delivers an instrument that not only excels at aggressive leads and bass but also analogue percussion and sound design.
The oscillators have been redesigned to provide a harmonically rich, detailed and crisp sound that cuts through any dance or electronic mix. Moog’s new Multidrive section is capable of generating a range of tones from subtle warmth right the way through to ripping and screaming distortion. This is also completely interactive with the filter resonance, waveshape and oscillator level.
The Moog Sub Phatty mixer section includes a square wave sub oscillator that outputs at one octave below Oscillator 1, perfect for crafting massive Moog bass lines or punchy kick drums. There’s also a uniquely voiced noise generator with low-frequency content for shaping snare drums or any other type of analogue percussion you can imagine, with a tone that is musical and full of body.
Like its namesake, the Sub Phatty has a whole host of features under the hood that can be accessed via the easy to use front panel. For greater precision, the unit can also be connected to a computer , enabling complete control of all parameters via the free plugin editor. Here you can select the LFO range, filter poles, control MIDI functionality and much more.
With a host of new features and a sound that takes familiar Moog quality to a new level, the Moog Sub Phatty represents an exciting entry into Moog’s extremely popular synth line, and it is sure to be a huge hit amongst producers and players in many genres.
