The Midas DL16 I/O Digital Stage Box is a modern, professional mic pre amp that personifies the very essence of the famous and sought-after MIDAS sound.
Over 40 years of design experience have been combined with the finest choice of premium grade components to bring all the acclaimed warmth, depth, subtle ambience and spatial positioning one has come to expect from the MIDAS pre amps. The DL16 features the very same pre amps that are found in the highly-acclaimed PRO Series consoles.
All of the DL16’s inputs have been designed by MIDAS expert engineers to handle both balanced and unbalanced signals, removing any concerns over signal degradation, noise and crosstalk interference. The DL16 also features dual Cirrus Logic digital to analogue converters which provide a reduced noise floor and lower distortion, and a post-DAC filtering that will remove wide-band noise.
Another great feature of the DL16 is the ULTRANET port. This allows the user to connect directly to the POWERPLAY P16 system, which intern allows each performer to take complete control of their own monitor mix.
The DL16’s dual ADAT outputs mean that you can simply connect to any ADAT-compatible outboard device – Eliminating the need for an ADAT digital interface as means of transferring digital data.
Connecting over a single shielded (STP) - CAT5, up to three DL16’s can be daisy-chained to deliver 48 channels in and up to 24 channels out to the stage. The dual AES50 cascading ports simultaneously provide high channel counts, extremely low and deterministic latencies, accurate phase-aligned network clock distribution, error detection, network redundancy with simple deployment and ease of use to meet the needs of the live performance industry. This unique combination also benefits both live and studio recording applications, as well as post-production, broadcasting and audio routing infrastructure.
With the remote operation via the CTA5/ 5e cable, communicating between the stage and the front of house has never been easier. The DL16’s innovative monitoring/ head amp control section allows the user to select any of the 16 inputs or eight bus outputs for immediate line checks. In addition to the signal metering at the stage box level, you can also set the individual gain, apply +48V phantom power, plus have the option to listen directly to the input signal.
The DL16 can be controlled from either the front panel or via the console, with up to 100m networking capability via a single CAT5 cable. Once set, all of the configuration settings can be locked at the console end for total system security.
There is also the handy function option of assigning the headphone output to any of the inputs or outputs for on-stage monitoring. Accessed via the ¼” jack socket which is conveniently located on the very front of the DL16, the user will have the option to listen directly to any of the 16 inputs via headphones by simply selecting the desired signal to be monitored by scrolling through any of the 16 channels. The gain can then be adjusted where needed.
Using scene automation has never been easier either. The automation scenes allow MIDI to be incorporated as to allow the external MIDI-compatible devices to be controlled as part of the scene change via you consoles MIDI output. Additionally, console events can be triggered from an external MIDI source via your console’s MIDI input. The user has the ability to control the gain and phantom power settings remotely by using the MIDI communication function.
The DL16 incorporates Neutrik connections throughout, ensuring a continuation of the MIDAS level of quality from the very beginning of the signal path, right through to the last output.
Finally, the MIDAS DL16 is housed in a rugged, road-ready 19” 2U rack-mountable chassis which is solid as well as sleek and is ideally suited for storage and travel in standard flight cases.
