Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged
Custom Shop-acoustic guitar with Relic design and including case!
With the Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged, the traditional manufacturer from Nazareth in Pennsylvania presents a faithful reproduction of one of its dreadnought classics from the 1930s. Thanks to the sophisticated "(VTS) Vintage Tone System -" manufacturing process, the instrument sounds as if it has been played for decades, giving the impression that it is a real rarity from days gone by. Authentic components such as an Adirondack spruce top and Madagascar rosewood body provide the clarity and balance for which the D-28 has been known and loved for generations. A detailed aged finish gives the strictly limited instrument an individual appearance and adds an authentic touch.

A top with original components
To get as close as possible to the sound of the original, the manufacturer uses a rough-grained Adirondack spruce top for the construction of the instrument, which in combination with a flat Authentic-1937-Forward-Shifted-Scalloped-X-Bracing unfolds the sound quickly and perfectly, so that all frequencies are reproduced evenly and clearly and decay long-lasting in the overtones. In addition, the top is trimmed with a fine Antique White binding and a Bold Herringbone inlay that perfectly matches the corresponding Tortoise pickguard and Multi-Stripe soundhole rosette, adding a tasteful touch to the overall appearance. To create an authentic look, the top wood is also faux-finished and dyed with a Modified Vintage toner, so it's hard to tell it's not actually a 1930s relic.

Back and sides made of coarse-grained Madagascar rosewood
In order to give the entire sound a full-range saturation, the manufacturer uses a fine rosewood from Madagascar for the back and sides, which is split open at the bottom and separated with a fine zig-zag back stripe. Especially the midrange frequencies are given a defined note by the fine tropical wood and by bracing of Adirondack spruce, which perfectly matches the distinctive treble frequencies of the top wood and rounds off the entire sound picture in its balance. The back and sides also feature artificial aging marks, which are found in the typical places of a much-played instrument. For a tasteful transition between the back and the sides, which are united by an Antique-White-Endpiecethe manufacturer inserts a fine Zig Zag Authentic Purfling into the high-quality material.
The venerable "C.F.Martin&Co Est. 1833" logo on the headstock
Matching the original from the 1930s, the manufacturer installs a sturdy mahogany neck, which is equipped with an ebony fingerboard that can be gripped cleanly and easily in all 20 frets. In addition, the frets feature high-quality 1937 diamonds-and-squares abalone inlays that contrast tastefully with the near-black ebony. A bone nut with a nut width of 44.5 mm and a compensated bridge inlay also ensure clean intonation over the entire scale length of 645 mm and testify to the great craftsmanship of the almost 200-year-old family business. The headstock is equipped with a massive 1937 taper and precise Aged-Open-Gear nickel tuners, which give the Custom-Shop guitar the final touch and guarantee a clean tuning of the 6 steel strings. The company logo is positioned in the middle in the form of a Golden Era overlay, which to this day stands for quality and the finest guitar craftsmanship.
