Martin Guitars 00-17 Authentic 1931

With its high-quality Authentic series, the traditional manufacturer Martin & Co. breathes new life into old models from the early 20th century and reproduces them with their original dimensions and materials. Thanks to a VTS treatment ( Vintage Tone System ) the replicas also produce an authentic sound, so that it is hardly noticeable that it is not an original of its time. A sturdy ply hardshell case is included in the delivery.

Woods and construction

The Martin 00-17 Authentic 1931 is made of a solid mahogany body that produces warm and wide-ranging tones that are fast and long-lasting due to a flat Authentic 1931 scalloped X-bracing. As a result, the compact 00-12 Fret Western guitar produces a very characterful sound that is well suited for expressive Pickings and delicate strumming. A solid mahogany neck with a fingerboard made of Brazilian rosewood also guarantees an extremely obliging grip of the 6 steel strings, which intonate cleanly on the short scale length of 632 mm due to a bridge inlay made of bone and a 47.6 mm wide ebony nut.

Design and Hardware

Characteristic for the early decades of the 20th century, the Martin acoustic guitar comes with a window headstock to which high-quality Golden Age nickel tuners are fixed on the sides, which allow precise tuning with their fine transmission. The headstock has a stamped company logo on the back, as was customary at the time, while the front only has a headstock made of Brazilian rosewood. Visually, the Martin 00-17 Authentic 1931 is rounded off with a generous tortoise pickguard that protects the plain mahogany top from scratches.
