The Mapex Mars Shell-Set MA529S Driftwood is a 100% birch wood shell set with SONIClear bearing edges. The Mars series offers high quality birch wood shells with short tone and lots of projection as well as balanced bass. The shells consist of six layers with a thickness of 7.2 mm. Unwanted overtones are naturally reduced by the wood, in addition the shells offer good tuning characteristics at low tunings. The SONIClear Tom Suspension increases the resonance of the shell as it allows them to vibrate completely free. In combination with the Remo heads, which are supplied from the factory, even beginners will get a professional sound that is suitable for the stage. The Mapex Mars drums are visually rounded off by the Driftwood finish and the chrome hardware.
One of the professional aspects is the SONIClear bearing edge. The strong rounding of the edges increases the contact surface on the shell. The increased contact causes a stronger power transfer from the head to the shell, which emphasizes the powerful and deep basic tone of the Mars drum shell. Last but not least, this shape of the bearing edge facilitates the tuning of the Mars drums, especially at low frequencies.
The Tom Mounts of the Mapex Mars Drums were taken from the much more expensive Saturn series. By minimal contact, they allow an unrestricted resonance behavior and thus contribute to the powerful sound.
Mapex Mars Drums are made from 100% birch wood. The shells consist of six layers of birch with a total thickness of 7,2 mm. The result is a balanced sound that is short, full and has high projection. The supplied Remo heads offer tuning stability and professional handling right from the start.
