The Ludwig Classic Maple Fab Shell Set Red Sparkle is a high-end drum set made of maple. The Classic Maple Series is aimed at professional drummers who are looking for a tool that is perfectly tuned in sound and appearance. Each drum of the Ludwig Classic Maple Fab Shell Set is handmade in the American Ludwig factory. This shell set consists of a 22"x14" bass drum, a 13"x9" tom tom and a 16"x16" floor tom in the classic Red Sparkle finish. The Classic Maple Drums are made of 7 layers of finest maple wood, resulting in a thickness of 6 mm. Thanks to the RFST Molding the shells offer optimal resonance. Equipped with Ludwig Weathermaster heads, which rest on the 45° bearing edge, the professional overall picture of the Ludwig Classic Maple Fab Shell Set is harmoniously rounded off.
Shells made from finest maple
The basis for the good sound of the Classic Maple Fab Shell Set lies in the cleanly processed drum shells. For the Ludwig Classic Maple Series these consist of 7 layers of maple in total, resulting in a thickness of 6 mm. During the manufacturing process the core is first produced, which consists of three cross-glued veneer layers. Then two outer and two inner layers are added using the RFST Molding process. The bearing edge is sanded at a 45° angle and is located on the outer approx. 1.5 mm of the shell. This creates a rather sharp edge, which gives the Ludwig Classic Maple Fab Shell Set Red Sparkle its open sound character.
Rubber pads for improved resonance
In the Ludwig Classic Maple Fab Shell Set, the Tom Tom Tom and Floor Tom hoops are made of steel. It gets its stability through a double flange. The bass drum hoops are made of wood and have a foil strip in the color of the set. The lugs are classically chrome-plated and have rubber pads. This prevents direct contact between metal fittings and wood, which not only protects the sensitive shell surface but also gives the shell improved resonance characteristics.
