Lewitt Pure Tube tube microphone with cardioid polar pattern overview:
Sound characteristics optimized for professional vocal recordings
Same capsule as the top model LCT1040
Extraordinarily high resolution
Rich, warm and three-dimensional tube sound with silky highs
Signal path without capacitors and active components other than the tube
Exceptionally low noise floor, especially for a tube microphone: 7dB (A)
Therefore best conditions for post-recording processing
Attractive price-performance ratio due to the lack of switchable polar patterns
Version including shock mount and ABS case
Purist tube microphone with high-end sound
The Lewitt Pure Tube is a premium-class tube condenser microphone stripped down to its essentials and designed for recording vocals and speech in modern productions. High-quality, selected components, strict quality controls and careful development work result in the Pure Tube, a microphone with impressive sound characteristics in its price class. It is used wherever a high-resolution, warm and full, but at the same time open and spacious sound is sought in vocal production. Tracks recorded with the Lewitt Pure Tube blend perfectly even into packed and loud pop and rock arrangements and can be beautifully post-processed with compressor and EQ.
Top model capsule with optimized circuitry
By foregoing the additional features of the top model LCT1040, it was possible to develop a microphone with the same capsule at a significantly lower price. Selectable polar patterns, pad and filter circuits and the various circuit options of the LCT1040 are not available - the focus is on appealing, high-resolution and full sound, as expected from a premium tube microphone. In keeping with the Pure Tube's minimalist approach, no capacitors or solid-state components are used in the signal path, allowing the clear and direct tube sound to be fully appreciated. The completely newly developed tube circuitry replaces the hybrid FET/tube circuitry of the LCT1040. Thanks to advanced control technology, the Lewitt Pure Tube achieves an unprecedented 7dB (A) of noise floor for a large-diaphragm microphone - less than most current FET condenser microphones and even less than the top-of-the-line LCT1040.
My initial take on this microphone was it’s a little too warm but after cutting a little low end, I’ve never gotten a better sound. Sibilance is well controlled and the harmonics are rich and sound great.
