500-watt bass amplifier, graphic equalizer and compressor
The Laney Richter R500H is a lightweight amplifier for electric bass guitar. This Class-D head has an output of 500W RMS and lots of tone-shaping features. The head features separate passive (Normal) and active (High) inputs, switchable compressor, 2-band EQ (Bass/Treble) and a 10-band graphic equalizer. The compressor is an automatic style compressor that responds depending on the gain level. This can be disengaged entirely with the ‘Comp’ switch. The compressor also features an ‘Active’ LED that illuminates when the compressor is engaged. The R500H also features a balanced XLR DI output that sends a pre-EQ signal to a mixer or PA, a 1/8” auxiliary input for connecting CD and MP3 players and a 1/8” headphone output for ‘silent’ practice. The amplifier connects to a speaker cabinet with the Combo socket. The rear panel also features a tuner output, FX loop (Send/Return) and a footswitch input for engaging the graphic EQ.
For the price, I don't think you'll be able to find another 500w Bass Amp head with all the the features the RH500 has.
It's goes loud, is well built, the EQ section is good, it's relatively lightweight, and has features like aux in, headphone out, compressor, FX loop, DI out.
Downsides seem to be: DI is only pre EQ and no ground lift. No volume control for the aux in. And it doesn't add an overdrive tone like some other Amps do- it's basically clean amplification with a good EQ section.
