The Korg Volca FM Polyphonic FM Synthesizer is an amalgamation of vintage FM sound engines, samplers and beat machines marrying the best aspects of vintage synth sounds with today’s technological advancements in contemporary dance music.
The volca fm is a three-voice digital FM synthesizer that completely reproduces the sound engine of a classic FM synthesizer, and provides compatibility with it as well. The unique volca interface makes it easy to manipulate distinctive FM sounds even if you're not familiar with the complexities of FM synthesis. The 16-step sequencer that's one of volca's features provides new functions such as WARP ACTIVE STEP and PATTERN CHAIN that let you make even more powerful rhythm patterns.
Due to the compact dimensions of the Korg Volca FM, this synth is highly portable while the built-in internal speaker allows music makers to experiment with new sounds, grooves and sequences while on the move.

The amount of sounds you can get from this little box of magic is incredible and even more fun once hooked up to effects and multiple Volcas. I have other synths that cost much more than this and it sounds just as good.
The Volva FM does a fantastic job of emulating the DX7, which is great if that's what you are after. Personally, I couldn't wait to load up some custom patches to create some deep dark basslines which the FM does very well also. Synced with other devices fine, using a Microkorg, kloss pad pro and two other volca. The big problem for me is the background hum/noise. A whining constantly coming from the audio out put. A common issue with most Volcas and easily edited out post production, but still annoying. At this price range though, a good bit of budget kit.
Nice little fm synth and a lot smaller than a DX7 from yesteryear. Nice deep basses and crisp chords. Obly critism is that I wish it had usb for midi amd power.
Well I've only had this for four days. Links well via midi to my drum machines and other synths. the portability and sounds that come out make this nearly £100 machine worth it. When hooked up to some decent amplification is when you really hear it from the deep subs to the out of reach high pitches. Just touching the algorythym section and can't wait to explore more. And more.
