With the Pa5X Korg presents the entertainer flagship among the arranger keyboards! Created for solo entertainers, bands, performers, solo artists and songwriters, the Entertainer Keyboard is equipped with cutting-edge features that make making music and working on the instrument a true joy. True to the motto "Simple. Better." the complete user interface has been renewed and provided with logical color codes that make interaction with the large 8" touchscreen and other controls easily recognizable. Compared to the previous model, this allows a more intuitive handling of the instrument and its functions, shorter paths to the target and even significantly faster loading times. A great innovation is the practical strip display under the nine faders, it shows the current assignment of the sliders. Newly added are 16 velocity sensitive pads, which can be used for different tasks like eg. They can be used for various tasks such as firing samples or muting tracks. The appealingly designed and high-quality processed aluminum case with the noble wooden side panels conveys a professional impression and frames the very pleasantly playable 61-key keyboard, which is velocity-sensitive and has aftertouch, in an appropriate manner.
Another highlight of the Pa5X are the two independent players, which can play styles, MIDI files and MP3 files in any combination. This allows mixing and synchronized playback of two different styles! MIDI files can be changed in their timing by setting a marker at the touch of a button. With the Chord Sequencer chord sequences can be created and also played per style. The new Round Robin function is a guarantee for authentically played drums, since a fine accentuation is achieved here with up to four layers at eight velocity levels.
The Pa5X keyboard has a lot to offer in terms of sound: over 2000 sounds from the Korg instruments SV-2 (pianos), Nautilus, Wavestate and also ARP 2600, among others, offer a varied repertoire and cover countless styles, which also includes traditional instruments and varied percussion. The Smooth Sound Transition function, developed specifically for the Pa5X, ensures that no sounds or effects are cut off during switching or crossfading.
Korg didn't miss the opportunity to significantly expand and refresh the effects department. Basically, the extensive effect selection is available here as insert and master. In addition to proven standards such as delay, reverb, distortion and various modulation effects (including chorus, flanger, phaser), the microphone input has been given a four-voice vocal harmonizer with autopitch function, so that even sung choirs and backgrounds that are accurately tuned succeed. The gain-adjustable guitar input can also be provided with effects. The integrated audio mixer allows detailed settings for each track and even includes the different players. Volume, thanks to the finalizer it is easy to handle the different levels. With WAVES, a legendary mastering tool is implemented in the Pa5X, which gives the sound the final touch and, if necessary, brings it up to level properly.
Instead of the handwheels pitchbend and modulation wheel, the Pa5X is equipped with a fine resolution joystick, which can be exchanged from the outside for easy service. Three buttons positioned above it allow quick switching of different actions and can be assigned to these matching. Below the joystick is a ribbon controller, with which any parameter can be modulated spontaneously with a finger swipe. In case an "internal" speaker is indispensable, Korg offers the PaAs speaker system for retrofitting. The installation is done in a few minutes and without any special knowledge, because the 2x 20 watt stereo speaker including an internal 40 watt subwoofer is placed on the back of the Pa5X.
The large, tilting 8" touchscreen is the central control element of the keyboard. The touchscreen provides access to all functions and features in razor-sharp image quality and ensures comprehensible interaction with other operating elements thanks to logical color codes. The touchscreen in particular clearly shows that the motto "Simple. Better." motto is aptly applied: with large buttons, realistic displays and a simplified structure, the well thought-out new user interface shines. No matter whether you are editing the Chord Sequencer, fine-tuning the sound with the Finalizer or adjusting effects, it couldn't be more comfortable.
The nine faders and their corresponding buttons are absolutely performance-capable and can be switched for numerous tasks. For quick adjustments or parameters, you can quickly reach your goal with them and have everything under control. The slim strip display, which shows the current assignment of the faders, proves to be very practical.
