Coaxial mid-tweeter

Kali-Audio presents the IN-8 2nd Wave Grey, the 2nd generation of its successful 3-way, 8" nearfield monitor. It has a coaxial midrange & tweeter, as well as a sophisticated bass reflex system. Based on the successful LP-8, the speaker has the same level-resistant woofer for powerful bass. But instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, there is a coaxial 4" midrange/tweeter combination.

What does a waveguide do?

The profile-optimized midrange driver also serves as a waveguide, which helps to avoid intermodulation distortion by limiting the peak excursion to 1 mm. This common problem with coaxial systems is thus avoided, resulting in a more harmonious and distortion-free overall picture.

Ideal image of an acoustic point source

The crossover frequency is also 330 Hz, making the Kali Audio IN-8 2nd Wave an acoustic point source without phase cancellations on the vertical axis. Instead, a uniform dispersion pattern is created across the entire frequency response with excellent depth and localization.

Detailed stereo image and room adjustments

The stereo image also benefits from the coaxial arrangement and enables a detailed mix. A Boundary EQ, familiar from the LP series, is also on board, allowing the nearfield monitor to be adapted to different studio environments just as easily as its sister models. Now also with a setting for use in a horizontal position.
