The KMA Audio Machines Strokkur is a modernized interpretation of the legendary Rangemaster Treble Booster. The Strokkur offers classic sounds and extended possibilities for tone control. Based on a fully analogue circuit with NOS AC125 Tungsram transistors, this compact pedal delivers up to 17dB boost, whereby the bandwidth can be adjusted from pure treble boost to complete full range boost using the Range control. A passive 2-band tone control can be used for further sound adjustment.
The main features of the KMA Audio Machines Strokkur include:
Treble Boost Analogue Effect Pedal for Electric Guitar
A Treble Booster that can full boost as well. I don't normally write reviews so bare with me, I find that the pedal boosts just the right frequencies so that it's not too 'ice picky'.
With the treble and bass controls you can really fine tune the EQ to suit different pickups although the change is very slight it makes a big difference.
Running through a Marshall DSL it's perfect for Classic Rock and really makes my guitars sing with the range control counter clockwise and is very touch sensitive.
With the range set clockwise its a great full boost that adds a warmth which I'm presuming is the Germanium Transistor, it can get a tad dark with a high output pickup but I just use the bass and treble controls for fine adjustment.
I highly recommend this pedal if you are into 1970s Classic Rock David Bowie, Marc Bolan, Led Zeppelin, KISS etc and I would say it's well worth a purchase as you can always return it if you don't like it.
My only two minor complaints would be that the pedal altough solidly built is a bit noisy when engaged (you don't notice it when you start strumming) and that you can't power it with a 9v battery.
As for DV247 I can't fault them at all! I placed my order around 1pm and chose express delivery and the pedal arrived the very next day!
