Transparent overdrive pedal with switchable boost and MIDI
The Jackson Audio Golden Boy was developed in collaboration with Joey Landreth of The Bros. Landreth and impresses with an extremely versatile sound spectrum in the style of a classic British blues amp. In addition to four clipping modes and an active 3-band EQ for the overdrive, the Golden Boy also offers a switchable one with a total of four tones. The effects pedal further features the practical Gain Cycle function for quick change of distortion intensity. Last but not least, the extensive sound options of the Jackson Audio Golden Boy can be conveniently switched via MIDI.
Overdrive with four clipping modes and active 3-EQ
At the heart of the Jackson Audio Golden Boy is the fully analogue overdrive with four different clipping modes, which can be easily switched between using the digital control. Accordingly, in Classic Screamer Mode two symmetrical clipping silicon diodes provide classic overdrive with smooth compression, whereas Asymmetrical Clipping Mode with three silicon diodes provides a more complex and aggressive sound. In Symmetrical Clipping Mode, four symmetrical clipping diodes promise a direct sound with a focused frequency spectrum. With two red LEDs for clipping the signal, the Amp Style Mode provides an open sound with extensive headroom. Last but not least, the active 3-band EQ with 12 dB boost or cut per frequency band allows for particularly precise sound adjustment.
Gain-cycling for quick adjustment of the distortion
The Jackson Audio Golden Boy also features an innovative gain-cycle function for quick adjustment of distortion intensity. The pedal's digital control divides the gain control setting into four levels of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% intensity, which can be changed by pressing both footswitches simultaneously. Without having to reach for the gain control, different variations of the set sound can be called up.
Switchable boost with four modes
Furthermore the Jackson Audio Golden Boy is equipped with a switchable MOSFET boost, which gives the sound image the finishing touch with a total of four sound modes. The Bright boost promises a targeted boost of the treble, whereas the Mid boost boosts the mid frequency range for increased assertiveness. In addition, there is a Full Range boost for the entire frequency spectrum and the Tailored boost, which is specially designed for drive sounds.
