With the JHS Pedals PackRat, the team and US effects tinkerer Josh Scott pack the most famous circuits of the RAT distortion effect that has been popular for over 40 years into a compact pedal housing. In addition to the usual knob layout for output volume, distortion level and tone colouration, the PackRat features an additional 9-position rotary switch for selecting the active circuit. Here, the enormously versatile pedal convinces with a wide sound palette that ranges from gentle Overdrive over juicy Distortion to brute Fuzz.
Nine different circuits
The OG mode offers the original 1979 version known as the 'Big Box' due to its large cabinet, while the WHT mode accurately recreates the sound of the subsequent 'Small Box' version with a white logo. Turbo mode is available for the extended dynamic range of LED-based clipping, while Brat mode provides the Input Buffer and additional Soft clipping for classic grunge sounds of the nineties. The famous Japanese version of the effect pedal is also represented with the LA mode. For additional sonic flexibility, the PackRat also features GRF, an extremely rare representative of the famous rodent, while fans of maximum distortion will find themselves in the PackRat's Dirty channel with maximum gain reserves and the highest saturation. Last but not least, the modern interpretations of the original are the JHSMod and an additional circuit based on the Caroline Wave Cannon.
