For the elaborate construction of the premium SR5FMDX Bass, Ibanez uses first-class tonewoods that give the Bass a lively sound character. The mahogany body is fitted with a top and back made of flamed maple and ash, while the five-piece neck made of panga panga and purpleheart is reinforced with titanium rods and has a fretboard made of curly maple. The slim "Atlas-5" neck profile and the silky oil finish on the back of the neck promise butter-soft playing characteristics right up to the highest registers so that both band grooves and virtuoso solos can be realized with ease.
Nordstrand Big single pickups and an active 3-band EQ give the Premium SR5FMDX a versatile sound spectrum.
Nordstrand pickups and active equalizer
Two Nordstrand Big Single pickups are responsible for the electrical sound conversion of the Premium SR5FMDX E-Bass. The classic soapbar housings each accommodate a split-coil pickup with angled pole pieces, which delivers a full Bass sound with the right amount of aggression and fine resolution. To be able to adjust the tone of the bass guitar optimally to your own ideas, Ibanez also equips the SR5FMDX with an active Custom Electronics preamp, whose 3-band tone control provides three selectable center frequencies for the mid-range control. Thanks to the EQ bypass switch, the Bass can also be played passively.
Gotoh bass tuners on the headstock of the Premium Soundgear SR5FMDX ensure precise and stable tuning.
