The Ibanez M510E-DVS Dark Violin Sunburst High Gloss at a glance
The Ibanez M510E-DVS Dark Violin Sunburst High Gloss is excellent for beginners as well as advanced players. Built-in the traditional A-style, the mandolin produces a very bright and powerful sound that unfolds quickly thanks to its thin, laminated construction. In addition, the flat neck with an extremely obliging grip in all 20 frets guarantees. To optimize the instrument in its functionality, the manufacturer equips the M510E-DVS with a magnetic pickup that reproduces the acoustic sound even at high volumes, without annoying feedback.
Structure and woods
In order for the sound to develop powerfully even with light strokes, the instrument's construction consists of a spruce top and a body made of sapele. This combination enriches the mandolin with pronounced midrange and treble frequencies. At the same time, a combination of an okoume neck with Purpleheart fingerboard and a nut width of 30 mm promises the best possible playability in all registers.
Design and hardware
The bridge of the instrument, like the fretboard, is made of Purpleheart and harmonizes perfectly with the finely notched plastic saddle. Thus, the instrument intonates cleanly and precisely over the entire scale length of 350 mm. In addition, chrome-plated open-gear tuners ensure easy tuning of the 8 strings. In addition to the characteristic F sound holes, the Ibanez M510E-DVS impresses with its traditional appearance, which is tastefully rounded off by a noble high-gloss varnish with brown-sunburst finish.
Very happy with this purchase. As a new comer to the mandolin I wanted to purchase something that was not too expensive but equally, not bargain basement. It was also important to have a semi acoustic instrument as I intend to alternate between mandolin and guitar in my band which gigs regularly in the Scottish Borders. Still in the process of learning the basics of the instrument, but loving it and able to play some songs on it already hat I know from guitar. Good value for money purchase and some great help from the people at dv247 who advised me on the instrument prior to purchase and facilitated shipping details in these Covid-19 times. Would definitely look to come back to dv247 for future purchases. Jim Taylor

I play guitar and bass but had never played a mandolin before. Took a while to get set up (might be tough for a complete beginner to set the floating bridge). Sounds fine as an acoustic instrument. Action good. No string buzz. No sharp frets or any other nasties. I can imagine that paying 5x the price will get you an instrument with far nicer tone but this one is absolutely fine for my first learning to play. Also sounds great through my Orange guitar amp.
