With Kalyke, IO Instruments introduces a versatile function generator that is a lush package of ADSR envelope and LFO. The envelope has crisp control times and is capable of much more than adjusting the four phases. The curve progression is continuously adjustable from exponential to linear. In addition, there are 16 different transients for the attack phase, which ultimately form the ratcheting mode. In loop mode the envelope reaches speeds into the lower audio range and can be used as a second LFO. Each of the four envelope phases has its own CV input, which allows even more lively modulations and variations of it. The LFO's waveforms are continuously morphable from square to sine to ramp to triangle. The frequency ranges from 60 seconds to 284 hertz. There are positive and negative control voltage outputs for both the LFO and the envelope. CV inputs for frequency and morphing make the LFO a creative playground for varied modulations. Alternatively to the waveforms the LFO can be switched to sample & hold mode and then behaves accordingly. The EG-LFO control adjusts how much the envelope affects the output voltage of the LFO. The knob on the left means full amplitude, the knob on the right only lets through what air is left in the voltage curve. In short: Kalyke is an extremely versatile module with the potential to be the main modulation source in the modular system.
