The IK Multimedia ToneX pedal at a glance
The IK Multimedia ToneX pedal is far more than just a simple floor modeller. The smart pedal is part of an entire ecosystem for modern guitarists and bassists that extends across numerous platforms as part of the extensive AmpliTube/ToneX universe. Whether in the rehearsal room, on stage or in the living room: ToneX always gives you absolute control over your sound!
Of course, the Italian modelling specialists rely on state-of-the-art technology in the form of Advanced AI Machine Modeling and the advanced VIR Cab Technology to make the sound of the individual amp and pedal simulations more realistic than ever before. In addition, numerous connection options make integrating the ToneX pedal into almost any existing setup child's play.
The IK Multimedia ToneX pedal features high-quality, low-noise converters in first-class quality.
High-quality Hardware for maximum performance
Under the hood of this ingenious pedal are numerous premium components that ensure first-class signal conversion and powerful, latency-free real-time calculation of a wide range of parameters. Low-noise ultra-low noise converters with a sampling rate of 192 kHz and a precise resolution of 24 bit are used for professional applications, while the USB interface turns the ToneX into a high-quality audio interface for studio-quality recordings in no time at all when used in conjunction with PCs and Macs.
An easy-to-read 16-segment display and a clear control layout for the most important functions form the user interface of the IK Multimedia ToneX pedal.
Sophisticated design with intuitive operation
In order to always have the right sound at hand in the heat of battle, the operation of the ToneX is clearly laid out and surprisingly effective. The two knobs to the left and right of the easy-to-read 16-segment display can be used to select the various stored tone models and presets, while the knobs below allow you to control individual parameters of the Tone model and the integrated effects. This means that important amp settings such as the 3-band equalizer and gain control as well as essential effects such as reverb, compressor and noisegate can be adjusted on-the-fly at any time without having to use the external ToneX Editor.
Numerous connection options
For maximum compatibility with existing rigs and devices of all kinds, the ToneX pedal offers practical connection options on the front of the pedal. In addition to the input for instruments, there is an output in jack format with separate connections for the left and right stereo channels, making it ideal for using spatial sound effects such as delays and reverbs. MIDI control of other MIDI-capable devices is also easily possible via the two 5-pin connections, while the connection for footswitches and expression pedals enables real-time control of individual effect parameters or simple switching between different banks and presets.
With separate stereo outputs, a headphone connection, MIDI connectivity and an additional connection for footswitches and expression pedals, the pedal is ideally equipped for almost any application.
AI Machine Modeling Technology
With its sophisticated AI Machine Modeling Technology, IK Multimedia is taking a radical new approach in the world of amplifier modelling. The AI-based deep learning algorithm creates a profile of your own rig from scratch that is ready for use anywhere and at any time and is sonically indistinguishable from the original. Even the response of the amplifier effects devices such as fuzz or overdrive pedals and, of course, the individual sound of the speaker cabinet are taken into account and reproduced in astonishing detail. To create new Tone models, a special dry signal is sent through the equipment to be cloned and recorded again as a wet signal via a microphone in front of the speaker cabinet. The algorithm then compares the incoming and outgoing signals to determine the individual sound character and capture it as an authentic-sounding digital image.
A PC or Mac, an audio interface, a re-amp box and a microphone are required to create hyper-realistic tone models.
With groundbreaking Volumetric Impulse Response (VIR) technology, cabinet sounds are available in unprecedented detail.
VIR Cab Simulation Technology
Also on board the IK Multimedia ToneX is the Volumetric Impulse Response (VIR) Technology, which has been redesigned from scratch and is familiar from AmpliTube 5, and which raises the sonic possibilities to a whole new Level compared to conventional cab sims. The new cabinet section uses no less than 600 impulse responses per speaker, whereby the models of legendary 4x12" cabinets are composed of a total of 2400 IRs and are reproduced with a higher resolution than ever before. In combination with amazingly detailed simulations of classic microphone types, this creates a hyper-realistic, three-dimensional space with practical possibilities for precise microphone positioning and extensive sound shaping options that are otherwise only available in professional recording studios.
AmpliTube/ToneX Ecosystem
The IK Multimedia ToneX pedal is part of the AmpliTube/ToneX ecosystem, which is made up of various hardware and software solutions. All components of the system are compatible with each other, meaning that a tone model created in AmpliTube 5, for example, can be easily edited and used on any iPhone, iPad, Mac or PC via the ToneX app or implemented in 'classic' rigs using hardware solutions such as the ToneX Pedal or ToneX Capture. This means that your own signature sound is always ready to hand between the stage, Studio and rehearsal room. In addition, the cloud-based ToneNET platformoffers the opportunity to share your own creations with the rapidly growing ToneX community and try out numerous sounds from other User.
The AmpliTube/ToneX ecosystem spans PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads and proprietary hardware solutions such as the ToneX Pedal and ToneX Capture.
