The Hohner Echo 48 is a tremolo harmonica with a soft, pulsating sound. Her lid is traditionally shaped, which gives her a classic look and a great playing feel. The harmonica has two reeds per note, which are slightly out of tune. This creates the classic tremolo sound. The Echo 48 is best suited for traditional folk music, but also for pop and country.
As a young boy in the 1950's, I played a Hohner harmonica at small concerts in Scotland. Now seventy-six years old, an old RAF comrade has challenged me to a competition to see who can put on the best musical performance by Xmas. He has chosen the ukulele, I will revisit the harmonica. I could manage a recognizable tune straight away on this Echo Tremolo and look forward to reacquiring reasonable skill to win the challenge. Nice to have another hobby during winter months and it is an easy instrument to move around with!
