With the Mutant Rimshot, Hexinverter complements its analog Percussion Module and Rimshot and Clave sounds. The Rimshot is clearly based on the TR-909, the Clave sound is a child of the TR-808. Rimshot is available in the High and Low variants; the bottom line is that it offers significantly more sound than the two TR classics. The pitch of the oscillator can be adjusted and modulated via control voltage. A distortion is connected between the oscillator and filter, which gives the basic sound more hardness, but also more overtones. The filter itself is a resonant multimode filter with selectable lowpass/bandpass/highpass characteristics. The internal decay envelope and the CV input are used to modulate the filter. With the external input (VCF In) it is possible to add another sound source such as a noise generator to the oscillator, so the oscillator is not replaced. Thanks to the Accent input, dynamic triggering is no problem. If you are looking for expressive sounds and want to expand your own drum palette with changeable analog percussions, you should keep an eye on the Mutant Rimshot.
