The HA73EQX2 from Heritage Audio is a two-channel microphone preamplifier including EQ and is based on the legendary 1073, which gives any microphone or instrument a vivid transparency and pressure. If the input signal is higher, a saturated sound is produced, which is familiar from classic consoles. With a gain of up to 80dB the preamp is suitable for all microphone types: Dynamic, ribbon or condenser - everyone benefits from the warmth and fullness of the HA73EQX2. The hand-wound input and output transformers from Carnhill are of course also responsible for the unique sound, giving a certain something to microphone, line or DIE instruments. Separate gain controls for in- and outputs offer the possibility to colour signals by transformers without overloading the output stage. As far as the DI circuit is concerned, it is located before the transformer of the microphone input: the specific character of an input bass signal is thus retained.
With the EQ section the same typical and harmonic distortions can be achieved as with the 1073. 3 bands per channel are available here, consisting of an HF shelving section with fixed input frequency, a mid band with fixed filter quality as well as six selectable frequencies and the LF shelving filter including four switchablefrequencies. The high-pass filter, which is equipped with four selectable operating frequencies, can be used to attenuate unwanted background noise in the lower spectrum - enough flexibility for every professional.
