The Guild DS-240 Memoir from this inexpensive Westerly series is a homage to the classical western Round Shoulder guitars of the 20s of the last century. Accordingly, a solid Sitka spruce top sits enthroned on a body of laminated mahogany and thus provides a powerful sound with powerful basses, vocal and striking mids, as well as brilliant trebles. This makes it Guild DS-240 Memoir ideal for the singer-songwriter with strumming or flatpicking. In addition, the flat "C" neck profile provides a pleasant and soft playability, while the compensated bridge inlay made of Graph Tech NUbone ensures clean intonation and a flat string position. In addition, the open Vintage mechanics keep the tuning clean.
Fantastic value for money and excellent clean workmanship. Very nice packaging from Guild with booklet and some freebies.
Needs a setup as action on the high side but it gives you something to work with so you can get it setup to your own personal spec.
Lively sound with plenty of low end thump.
Only criticism is that the colour is a lot more muted than the pictures on the internet. It's not as bold as the pictures.
Definately on par with my Gibson and much better lookig than most of the photos.
Needed slight tweak to truss road and 1mm off the bridge for me and also opted to replace plastic pins with Graphtech ,,,now it is an amazing intrument,,,,,buy one! PS also grat service to UK by Musicstore.!
