Gretsch G9240 Alligator Round-Neck Biscuit Cone Resonator (Sunburst)

Pleasently surprused by the build quality and tone of this guitar, was bought a parlour guitar for picking at home, and whilst it's no threat to the likes of National reso's it more than matches any gold tone or ozark. and would hold up to gigging with a good mic set up. very happy with this purchase.

My first resonator but approximately my 10th guitar...

It plays very smoothly and can be loud and rowdy or soft and gentle... Overall a fantastic instrument that's been carefully crafted with excellent attention to detail!

Beautiful looking. There are a few thumb prints within the finish on the neck, but for the price it's to be expected - although not a cheap guitar, it is compared with a National, for example. Sound-wise, it lacks high end on the upper strings. Again, it's to be expected at this price. String height was uneven on the 1st and 2nd strings, but I deepened the bridge slots and it now plays well. I like the small body (comfortable to play).

I spent a lot of time researching resonator guitars before deciding to purchase my Gretsch Alligator.
I am absolutely delighted with this guitar, it is all I had hoped it would be.
It is very playable and sounds great for the kind of blues finger picking style I bought it to play. Add to this the fact that it looks great and that purchasing from Music Store, you can't beat the service and price, I can highly recommend.

Ordering a guitar on line that you have not tried is always a gamble but this guitar more than met all my expectations. The sound feel and look is great and I haven’t been able to stop playing it since it arrived. It was despatched and shipped very quickly. Full marks.
