GRETSCH G6196T-59 Vintage Select Edition '59 Country Club Bigsby Cadillac Green

Hollow Body electric guitar with TV Jones pickups and Bigsby vibrato, including case and certificate

The Gretsch G6196T-59 Vintage Select Edition '59 Country Club Bigsby Cadillac Green pays tribute to the first custom-coloured instruments, which have been an integral part of the Gretsch line-up since the end of the Fifties. Accentuated by gold-plated hardware, the deep green gives this hollow body electric guitar a particularly noble appearance, making it the centre of attention on every stage. However, this classically built electric guitar also impresses with its excellent sound. With two TV Jones TV Classic pickups in a large resonance body made of laminated maple, it delivers first-class sounds for nimble Nashville picking and driving rockabilly. The glued maple neck in the "Standard U" profile promises comfortable playability. Last but not least, authentic vintage hardware in the form of a Bigsby vibrato, space control bridge and Grover Imperial tuners completes the Gretsch G6196T-59 Vintage Select Edition '59 Country Club Bigsby Cadillac Green.

Top and back of the hollow-body electric guitar are stabilised by a Gretsch trestle bracing.

Hollow Body electric guitar with trestle-bracing

For the construction of the large full resonance body of the Gretsch G6169T-59 Country Club, Gretsch relies on the traditional maple laminate and a trestle bracing developed at the end of the 1950s at the request of Chet Atkins. This connects top and back via two U-shaped structures glued parallel to the middle of the body, so that the guitar has the typical airy hollow-body sound character without feedback spoiling the enjoyment of the sound. The maple neck, glued in the traditional way, with its not too strong "standard U" profile also offers optimal playability over the 22-fret ebony fretboard.

TV Jones TV Classic humbuckers and a 3-way circuit with tone switch provide multi-faceted vintage sounds.

TV Jones pickups and typical Gretsch circuit

Two TV Jones TV Classic pickups are used on the G6196T-59 Vintage Select Edition '59. As authentic replicas of the original Filter'Tron humbuckers from the 1950s, these humbuckers deliver a dynamic sound image with brilliant treble response, skilfully conveying the resonant character of the hollow body construction to the amplifier, making them ideal for nimble rockabilly licks and virtuoso Nashville picking. In addition to separate volume controls for each pickup and the master volume pot typical of Gretsch guitars, the Gretsch G6196T-59 Country Club also features a 3-way tone switch for adjusting the tone. In addition to the neutral centre position, this offers two different filters to soften the treble spectrum.

From here, the strings are guided over the traditional Gretsch space control bridge with intonation-proof fixed ebony base.
