The Gretsch G6122-CS 1962 Country Gentleman (Candy Apple Red) is a Masterbuilt 6-string Hollow-Body Electric Guitar, created by master craftsman Steven Stern in honour of legendary Guitarist Chet Atkins.
Steven Stern proves he knows how to produce luxury Hollow-Body electric guitars: based on the original specifications from 1962, this Country Gentleman features a large double-cut laminated maple body and a glued maple neck with an Ebony fingerboard. 2x TV Jones Classic pick-ups and the elaborate Gretsch circuitry with 3-way tone and standby switch skilfully capture the resonant character of the hollow-body construction and deliver a brilliant sound through your Guitar Amp, variously ranging from expressive Nashville picking to crisp Rockabilly licks. The Gretsch Twin Mute system allows the high and low strings to be damped. The Gretsch G6122-CS 1962 Country Gentleman (Candy Apple Red) is equipped with a Bigsby vibrato, including a rocking bar Bridge and Grover Imperial tuners.
The build of the Gretsch G6122-CS relies on the traditional construction method. The classic maple laminate is used for the double-cut body. This gives the Masterbuilt Country Gentleman a brilliant and open acoustic timbre that forms the perfect basis for classic Country and Rockabilly sounds. The glued maple neck has the "Standard Neck Shape", and lies extremely comfortably in the hand, so that techniques played on the Ebony fingerboard can be played effortlessly.
The Gretsch G6122-CS 1962 Country Gentleman (Candy Apple Red) uses a pair of TV Jones Classic pick-ups, which are based on the original Filter'Trons of the 1950s. This beautiful instrument delivers a particularly lively sound that dynamically responds to attack and playing technique, whilst skilfully capturing the timbre of the full-resonance construction. The brilliant treble spectrum in combination with the controlled bass foundation ensures a high assertiveness. The versatile Gretsch circuit is also available for controlling the sound. In addition to a 3-way pick-up switch, there is a 3-way tone switch and a practical stand-by switch that mutes the guitar during pauses, while separate volume controls for each pickup and master volume allow perfect output control.
High-quality hardware in the typical '60s style completes the look of the Gretsch G6122-CS. The tailpiece is a classic Bigsby B6, which enriches the sound with shimmering vibratos, while the pinned rocking bar bridge is fixed intonation-proof on the top. Behind the bone saddle Grover Imperial tuners on the headstock ensure safe and precise tuning. In addition, the Gretsch G6122-CS Country Gentleman is equipped with the practical Twin Mute system, which has separate dampers for the low and high strings that can be extended via the levers next to the Bigsby. A removable pad on the underside of the body also protects the finish from scratches caused by belt buckle scratches.
