Gibson 's Black Beauty
In 1952, when Lester Polsfuss alias Les Paul was awarded the most successful Gibson Signature Instrument electric guitar in the history of electric guitar in the 1950s, he wanted a "Tuxedo Guitar " that combined the simple black elegance of a suit with optical finesse. Soon after, the mahogany top Les Paul Custom and Super 400 Archtop model Split Diamond inlay in the headstock veneer became one of the most popular instruments of the then still very young rock scene. As part of the True Historic series, he Gibson Nashville Custom Shop follows in the footsteps of the history of the creation of Black Beauty and recreates the classic as authentically as never before.
Hide Glue Mahogany Top and Double Carving
According to the previous LPR models, this went Gibson Custom Shop one step further and analyzed the historical processing steps of the original Gibson facility down to the smallest detail. Accordingly, for the True Historic 1957 Les Paul Custom classic bone glue was used, which is applied under heat and cured after cooling glashart. This not only Les Paul creates the characteristic sound, but also offers the possibility for authentic Neck resets.
In the area of the top and fingerboard, the hand-ground Double carving is now used for the original top profile and fingerboard shaping. After the first rough CNC-supported working step the laborious adjustment begins by hand, whereby also impurities in the transition to the binding, neck or the are Hardware repaired.
True Historic Wet Sanding & Sounds
Gibson A further step in the application of the nitrocellulose finish was introduced in order to achieve a harmonious haptic feedback of the lacquer. The lacquer is not only applied thinner, but is also sanded wet by hand (wet sanding). This allows it to resonate Instrument better and age authentically over the years.
The True Historic 57 LPC was equipped with the coveted Custom Bucker pickups. The classic Alnico -III-driven Humbucker ones are based on Seth Lover's recipe of the first PAFs and are considered by fans to be the most successful approach to the original sound character with a certain portion of bite and growl.
