The Gibson Theodore Standard AntiqueNatural electric guitar at a glance
Following the extremely successful Custom Shop Limited run in 2022, the famous guitar maker from Nashville, Tennessee is now presenting the Gibson Theodore Standard Antique Natural, a series-produced offshoot of the iconic design as part of the Gibson USA line-up. Both the unconventional design and the name of the instrument are based on a sketch that the then Gibson President Ted McCarty drew by hand in 1957 and spent several decades in the Gibson archives as a pure concept until it was realized 65 years later. As a genuine Gibson USA electric guitar, the Theodore Standard naturally comes in a matching hardshell Case.
The Gibson Theodore is based on a 1957 concept by the Gibson president at the time.
Theodore Body & Slim Taper Neck
A special feature of the Theodore, which has a particularly positive effect on the handling of the instrument, is the two wide Florentine cutaways of the mahogany body. This creates a particularly large amount of space above and below the neck foot, allowing carefree playing in the highest positions of the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The classic slim taper neck made of mahogany, on the other hand, offers a long-established feel with a high recognition value for Gibson fans, contributing to the iconic look of the Gibson Theodore Standard with its traditional 'Scimitar' headstock .
Gibson '57 Classic Humbucker
With the two Gibson '57 Classic humbuckers, the Gibson USA Theodore Standard offers an extremely versatile sound spectrum that impresses with expressive sounds in the coveted P.A.F. style. In the neck position, the Gibson USA Classic '57 humbucker provides everything from mid-warm sounds for expressive chord playing to vocal leads, while in the bridge position the Gibson USA Classic '57 Plus humbucker offers an increased Output thanks to additional coil windings to produce powerful bridge sounds and create a good balance with the neck pickup. The electrics are fully hand-wired and rely on genuine Orange Drop capacitors for particularly musical Treble roll-offs via the tone control.
