Authentic '68 construction

In the frame of the Gibson 1968 Les Paul Custom Ebony Ultra Light Aged many construction features of the last pre-Norlin models can be found again. Thus the Mahogany body is finished with a solid two-piece maple top and multiple body binding, while the mahogany neck with original Authentic '68 Medium C neck profile features a 14° headstock angle for string reduction. Of course, a 22-fret ebony fretboard with historically accurate medium jumbo fret wire is used on the Les Paul Custom model.

Double humbucker-features from the Gibson Custom Shop

The Gibson 1968 Les Paul Custom Ebony Ultra Light Aged represents the Custom version with dual humbucker appointments, forgoing the middle pickup for additional freedom of the picking hand. Thus, for tone conversion, two Custom Shop hand-wound '68 humbucker are used in the neck and bridge positions to produce the full LP tonal palette with traditional alnico warmth. Under the hood, the 1968 Les Paul Custom features hand-wired electronics that match the original, using high-quality parts from CTS and Switchcraft and oil-paper capacitors.
