i camefrom Turkey to musicstore for buying a 2017 lp tribute hp, but there werent any. i had to choose another guitar. i gave a 6 hours to test some of the 2017 line up and some sale guitars including 2016 lp standard t - which were for same price 1699€. i can tell 2017 lp traditional hp was the best. it includes top of the line hp specs like new dip switch selector control unit, titanium nut and saddles, carved neck heel etc. these are modern specs and exactly the same with the 2017 lp std hp series but it has a traditional unrelieved body full of sustain and tone. Gibson always tells that weight relieving does not effect tone sustain too much. this is a big lie. this guitar is very heavy and you have to consider its weight when buying if you are planning to gig with it. gibson wants to sell more guitars and they are making lighter ones for that reason.
burstbucker 3+ is also one of the best of gibson pickups. bb2/3+ are not not clear as 57s. a little rounded and spacier. goes well with hi gain. my no.1 pickup is 57 classic+ and for that reason i spent very much time on the 2017 lp classic hp. it was cheaper with 57 classic and 57 classic+ but maple cap was not burning and also sustain was lower. i decided to give some time to try bb2/bb3+. if i dont like them after trying i can change the pickups but i cant fill a relieved body for sustain. aaa flamed maple cap with antique burst painting was another seducer. if you are looking for a lighter guitar and if you dont care about hp specs only a lp standard t is rival. i think it is best suited for recording or sitting and playing on lap giggers or home players.
Magic, sounds as good as it looks, sustains forever, plays as smooth as silk, the best guitar in my collection.
Really one of the best electric guitars I had a chance to try. The build quality, the sound, the looks ... all is great. It has some weight to it, but in a nice way :)
