It is also transmitted to the side and back of the instrument, resonating through the air in the body, and producing sound from the sound hole. The original, general term for this stringed instrument is guitar, and the retronym 'acoustic guitar' distinguishes it from an electric guitar, which relies on electronic amplification. In standard tuning, the guitar's six strings are tuned (low to high) E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4. Sitka spruce and rosewood complement each other perfectly in their tonal characteristics.
Solid woods
The solid Sitka sprucetop produces a clear sound with radiant overtones that is highly valued in guitar making, while the back and sides made of solid rosewood, which is used in numerous high-end models around the world, add a full bass range and warm, defined mids. The result is a tonewood combination whose sound has always been popular among acoustic enthusiasts and perfectly supports every genre with its balance. Gibson also demonstrates the highest level of craftsmanship with the innovative Scalloped X-Bracing, whose strips, planed deeper in the middle, promote improved vibration behavior and, in combination with the voluminous resonance body of the round-shoulder dreadnought and the all-solid construction, produce an impressive sound volume that effortlessly asserts itself in any environment.
The slim taper neck profile fits perfectly into the palm.
Mahogany neck with slim taper profile
The neck construction of the Gibson J-45 Standard Lefthand Cherry contributes significantly to its comfortable playability. The mahogany neck with slim taper neck profile is ergonomically shaped and sits comfortably in the hand. In combination with the supple rosewood fingerboard the fretting hand glides smoothly over the entire surface and makes fast chord changes and rapid tone sequences much easier. Thanks to the shortened scale length of 628.6 mm, less force is also required when picking, which successfully prevents premature fatigue. The hardware is also completely convincing, because while a compensated bridge inlay made of Graph Tech TUSQ ensures a flat string action and clean intonation, nickel-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners guarantee outstanding tuning stability.

Cherry finish
The most visually striking feature of the Gibson J-45 Standard Lefthand Cherry is undoubtedly its stunning high-gloss cherry finish, which is characterized by its deep red tones that convey a sense of warmth and depth. Each play of light reveals new nuances and shades that emphasize and accentuate the natural grain of the wood, while the high-gloss finish provides a stunning sheen and adds a luxurious polish to the instrument. The tortoise pickguard is another key element of the design. It not only protects the surface of the guitar when playing picks, but also adds a touch of traditional Gibson charm. Its warm, earthy tones harmonize perfectly with the Cherry finish, creating a balance between sophistication and robustness. Finally, the simple multi-ply bindings and single-ring rosette also ensure subtle elegance.
I am a electric guitar man, but I was looking for a universal acoustic for accompanying and solo playing, and it seems, I've got what I need. I have never bought play a new guitar, this is the first and the glue smell still catch me))

The overall craftsmanship on this guitar is good. That said there is a imperfection on my guitar, more specifically the glue being observable to the naked eye, which is pretty disappointing considering the huge price it retails for. Sound is really great, no complaints here. The guitar looks and feels great, with the exception of the glue like I said. If you have the money to spend it's a great guitar, that said the price is preeety steep, so it comes to personal opinion in regards to Price/Performance. I believe you can find great guitars for half the price of this one. Still I've tested it on a lot of different tracks and genres and it is very malleable. It's a great guitar to have and I have definitely enjoy playing it!

So much has been said about this Guitar over the years. This is my first Gibson acoustic and I'm comparing it with my Martin D18 which I've gigged with for about 15 years. I have to say I think this may become my favourite acoustic!

This is a lovely guitar with a professional finish and a fabulous tone that comes from the selection of spruce and mahogany tonewoods. I deliberately selected a Gibson Dove for my six-string acoustic (with maple tonewoods) as I like brighter tones in acoustic guitars but in the case of a 12 string that would be too bright - in the J-45 12 String, the "darker" sounding tonewoods balance off the high trebles of a 12 string leaving just the right amount of jangle.
The guitar was also great value. The J-45 may be regarded as Gibson's "workhorse" but you are definitely getting something special when you buy one.
