The Gibson J-45 Genuine Mahogany combines the broad sound of the Round Shoulder Dreadnought mahogany body with the round and central sound character of the mahogany body, while the Antique Natural finish presents the grain and texture of the wood. Thanks to its L.R. Baggs VTC pickups, the J-45 Genuine Mahogany is a true all-purpose Western guitar for strummers, pickers, Performer and studio musicians.
Mahogany-like woods are extremely popular among fingerpickers of the blues and country due to their middle-focused and singing sound and are often used as a popular tonal addition to spruce or cedar in the back and sides. The J-45's two-piece 4-binding top is made of AA grade mahogany and features a flat and even grain with a detailed depth effect.
The neck, also made of mahogany, comes in slim Slim Taper TM profile for manoeuvrable runs over the one-piece rosewood fretboard 21mm thick behind the 1st fret, while a Black Tusq saddle 43m 8mm m wide accommodates both classic strummers and fingerstyle fans.
The active L.R. Baggs VTC pickup provides amplification via a PA system or studio-quality recordings. The combination of pickup and Preamp signal processing provides the sound of the J-45 Genuine Mahogany for recording purposes. The headstock of the Gibson J-45 is adorned with gold-plated classic Open Back machine Grover heads, while the PLEK treatment provides the best possible string position for handling and playability.
