The Gibson 1964 SG Standard Maestro Vibrola Faded Cherry Heavy Aged #203594 is a successful replica of that SG vintage that marked the end of the 'Les Paul SG' era and came up with some welcome improvements. The beefier mahogany neck of the Murphy Lab 1964 SG Standard is glued with long neck base and hide-glue.
Long Neck Tenon & Hide Glue
As the basis of the Gibson 1964 SG, the historically correct construction of the '64 SG serves as the starting point for this replica model. matching, the instrument is composed of a one-piece body made of solid, yet lightweight mahogany wood and a neck also made of mahogany. The latter features the traditional long neck heel (Long Neck Tenon) and is glued to the body with glass-hard Hide-Glue for improved resonance. Last but not least, the beefier "Authentic '64 Medium C" neck profile evokes the usual classic feel in the style of the Gibson solidbody guitars of the late fifties.
Custombuckers with Alnico III magnets and a hand-wired electrics with high quality components deliver authentic vintage sounds.

The complete wiring of the Gibson 1964 SG Standard Maestro Vibrola Heavy Aged is hand-wired and makes use of high-quality components in the form of CTS potentiometers, a Switchcraft output jack and genuine Black Beauty capacitors for authentic Treble roll-offs of the tone controls.
Also the Kluson tuners in historically correct "Single Line/Double Ring" design of the sixties are subjected to the Murphy Lab treatment.

Both the Hardware and Finish of the SG Standard Maestro Vibrola Faded Cherry Heavy Aged has been subjected to a Murphy Lab Light Aged Treatment, developed by none other than aging experts Tom Murphy and his team. Authentic wear marks can be found on the Maestro Vibrola plus ABR-1 bridge, traditional Kluson tun ers and both humbucker caps, while the chic Faded Cherry nitrocellulose lacquer has the proudly displayed playing marks of a frequently live played but cared for original.
