Semi-hollow body with long neck tenon
To guarantee a direct response and maximum resonance, the ES-335 Reissue Stopbar uses the long neck tenon, which is considered a particularly important design feature among connoisseurs and collectors. For the composition of the body, Gibson follows the classic recipe with 3-ply maple and poplar laminate with an additional maple center block, while the mahogany neck has a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with 1950s pattern mother-of-pearl block inlays and the popular Authentic '59 Medium C profile of original instruments from the late fifties.
Custombucker pickups with paper-in-oil caps
Probably the most successful recreation of the early Gibson humbuckers, two custom humbuckers with Alnico III magnets wound in the Custom store give the ES-355 Reissue its unmistakable voice. Following the original, the hand-wired electronics offer separate controls for Volume and Tone from the US manufacturer CTS, allowing both pickups to be assigned a variety of individual sound settings. The Treble rolloff of the tone controls is achieved via historically correct paper-in-oil capacitors, allowing both humbuckers to elicit their full tonal potential at any time, from warm jazz leads to authentic 'woman tone'.
Historical Hardware and finish
In addition, the Gibson 1959 ES-355 Reissue StopbarEbony features the all-gold-look hardware of the original premium model. The proven combination of ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic and lightweight aluminum stopbar ensures direct resonance transmission into the body, while the original Kluson waffleback tuners provide the classic ES look. Of course, the famous split Diamond headstock inlay is also a must on this premium version. Last but not least, the body and neck are finished with a VOS nitrocellulose finish, which recreates the unique feel of classic Gibson guitars with astonishing precision.
