As the premium version of the legendary ES-335, the Gibson 1959 ES-355 Reissue VOS Ebony from the Gibson Custom Shop with a classic noble look, authentic sounds and an unmistakable playing feel. Built to original 1959 specifications, the semi-hollow model showcases the impressive attention to detail of the GibsonCustom Builders and features some interesting refinements that give the ES-355 its coveted charm. Of course, Gibson gives the semi-acoustic instrument an original Lifton Case and includes an additional certificate confirming the authenticity of this special edition.
The Gibson 1959 ES-355 Reissue VOS Ebony convinces with the traditional noble look, authentic vintage sound and a distinctive feel.
The mahogany neck glued with a long neck foot and the semi-hollow body stabilized by a center block create the basis for the typical sound.
Semi-Hollow Guitar with Long Neck Tenon
Guaranteeing a direct response and the greatest possible resonance, the ES-355 Reissue uses the long glued neck base, called Long Neck Tenon, which is considered a particularly important construction feature among connoisseurs and collectors. For the body composition, Gibson follows the classic recipe with 3-ply laminate of maple and poplar with an additional centre block of maple, while the mahogany neck features a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with 1950s Pattern Mother-of-Pearl block inlays and the popular "Authentic '59 Medium C" profile of original instruments of the late fifties.
With Gibson Custombucker Alnico III pickups and a hand-wired circuit with oil-paper capacitors, the ES-355 Reissue delivers authentic vintage tones.
Custombucker Pickups with Paper-in-Oil Caps
Probably the most successful recreation of the early Gibson humbuckers, two custom humbuckers with Alnico III magnets wound in the Custom store give the ES-355 Reissue its distinctive voice. The handwired electronics offers following the model separate controls for Volume and Tone of the US manufacturer CTS, and both pickups a variety of individual sound settings can be assigned. The Treble roll off of the tone controls is done via historically correct Paper-in-Oil capacitors, and both humbuckers from warm jazz leads to the authentic 'Woman Tone' at any time to elicit their full sonic potential.
Grover Rotomatic tuners support the classic look of the guitar and keep it securely in the correct tuning.
Historical Hardware and lacquer finish
In addition, the Gibson 1959 ES-355 Reissue StopbarEbony features the all-gold-look hardware appointments of the original Premium model. Thus, the proven combination of ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic and lightweight aluminium stopbar ensures direct resonance transmission into the body, while the tried-and-true Grover Rotomatic tuners provide the classic ES look. Of course, the famous Split Diamond headstock inlay is not to be missed on this premium version. Last but not least, the body and neck are finished with a VOS nitrocellulose finish that amazingly accurately recreates the unique feel of classic Gibson guitars.
