Traditional semi-hollow construction
The ES-335, a representative of the semi-hollow construction, has a classically crafted body made from three-ply laminate of maple and poplar wood. The laminate construction, which has been tried and tested since the ES-175, is complemented by a solid maple center block, which favors the resonance transfer of the strings into the body and ensures that the ES-335 can also be played at high gain settings without any problems. As a special feature of the '59 model, the 22-fret fretboard made of East Indian rosewood uses historically correct Dot-Inlays.
As an authentic recreation of the famous Late Fifties ES-335, the Gibson Custom Shop provides the Gibson 1959 ES-335 Heavy Aged Olive Drab with historically accurate appointments and tasteful aging by the Gibson Murphy Lab
The replica of the Semihollow legend consists of a high-quality premium wood selection, hand-wired electronic components and authentic hardware equipment
Classic Hardware and nitro lacquer with Murphy Aging
The entire know-how of the Murphy Lab, founded by Tom Murphy, is used to create the right look and feel for an unmistakable replica of the '59 ES-335 model. The aging experts have thoroughly examined numerous preserved models from the golden Gibson era in order to be able to reproduce the finish, hardware aging and typical traces of playing of old originals more faithfully than ever before. The result is a successful aging process at Ultra Light Aged level, which represents the condition of an instrument that has been extremely well cared for over decades with minimal nitro lacquer cracks and slight hardware ageing.
The custom bucker pickups, modeled on the original PAF humbuckers, deliver authentic vintage sounds thanks to the paper-in-oil capacitors
Authentic electronics equipment
The hand-wiredcircuitry of the Gibson 1959 ES-335 Heavy AgedOlive Drab is made up of two hand-wound custom bucker pickups, high-quality components from CTS and Switchcraft and genuine oil-paper capacitors to get as close as possible to the sound and electronics layout of the original. The two hand-wound dual coilers are replicas of the coveted PAF humbuckers and offer a moderate output that can be used for everything from expressive cleans to steamy crunch sounds.
