The Wave Ring from Genki Instruments is a new kind of performance controller that is worn like a ring on a finger and transmits gestures. The Wave Ring is equipped with various precision sensors which generate a series of commands (gestures!) which are sent via Bluetooth to the separately available Wavefront module (SYN0007185-000), a computer, tablet or smartphone. Since the controller works with the usual DAWs on OSX, Windows, iOS and Android, the user has a wide field of application with his favourite software. Among other things, inclination, panning, rolling, vibrato, typing and clicking are derived from the gestures, which allows a completely new articulation with sounds and synthesis in general.
Sophisticated concept
The LED matrix provides information about functions and the configuration of the Wave Ring. Thanks to the adjustable strap, the controller fits on every finger. The "bracelet" draws its power via Micro-USB; after one and a half hours of charging, the way is clear for up to eight hours of gaming fun.

Amazing product! Works as described and really responsive. I like what I have observed about the company too: really innovative with attention to detail, such as the great software for configuring the Wave and the very secure case it comes in. They are also have an eye on future enhancements and welcome suggestions. The Wave has many uses whatever midi instrument you play. One very practical use is that it allows you to define a large range of movement with your hand to control a variable midi parameter such as volume. This gives you much greater control than an expression pedal, for example, where the range of movement is very small making it very difficult to effect a gradual change in the output.
