With the Genelec 8340AM loudspeakers, Genelec presents a new line of highly developed studio monitors that not only get the maximum sound and linearity out of their respective volumes, but above all set new standards in terms of functionality with Genelec's Smart Active Monitoring System.
The Smart Active technology stands for the most advanced monitoring network technology with automated calibration of the individual loudspeakers and comprehensive, software-based loudspeaker management functions. With the help of the "Genelec Loudspeaker Manager" software and its AutoCAL features, Genelec 8340 APM loudspeakers can be automatically calibrated and automatically optimized for the corresponding audio workstation. Up to 30 devices in a room can be networked via the separately available GLM Network Adapter. In addition to calibration,
Genelec 8340AM loudspeakers have completely newly developed, optimized enclosures that not only allow the woofers to resonate as freely and uninfluenced as possible, but have also been designed for optimum linearity in order to achieve the audibility and hyper-accurate reproduction required for the most demanding audio productions. The cabinet design features exclusively curved shapes that seamlessly integrate the waveguides of the Tweeter. In addition, the construction is made entirely of cast aluminum, which, just as malleable as plastic, provides a significant increase in structural stability at a very low weight. The Iso-Pod stands supplied guarantee excellent decoupling of the speakers and also allow the speakers to be individually angled to the listening position.
It goes without saying that the built-in transducers are operated in a beamped mode, which ensures robust performance even at higher levels. Active crossover circuits also prevent intermodulation of the drivers and possible distortion. The interplay between the 6.5" woofer and 3/4" Tweeter is exemplary for the Genelecs. Genelec 8340AM monitors not only impress with an absolutely balanced frequency response and outstanding impulse fidelity, but also achieve an extremely wide stereo image with accurate spatial imaging and excellent localization of the individual signals in the mix. In the treble range, the studio monitors play transparently and airily, i.e. without strain in the best sense of the word, allowing for longer, fatigue-free mixing sessions. In addition, Genelecs with their compact format sound surprisingly mature and full-bodied - with an absolutely convincing and accurate low bass performance that you wouldn't necessarily expect from studio monitors of this size.
