Future Sound Systems Gristleizer Modulator TG4 is a VCA module with additional functions for modular synthesizers in Eurorack format. The Gristleizer modules are based on an old effect device of industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle. The module is based on a JFET controlled VCA. The BIAS knob sets the initial amplitude modulation control point, while a CV attenuation converter for CV2 allows full control over how the amplitude is modulated. Dirt control allows the user to change the behavior of the JFET level. At zero dirt the modulator provides a clean VCA, while at maximum dirt the waveforms are drastically mutated, sometimes beyond recognition. Also note that the JFET tends to distort the second harmonics, similar to those of tube amplifiers.
