Focusrite enters the third round with the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Generation audio interface and once again convinces with optimizations at every point. Especially for singer-songwriters, this interface provides a reassuringly simple recording process and offers professional sound quality thanks to powerful AD-DA converters (24 bit/192 kHz). The instrument input provides plenty of resistance and headroom and is ideal for recording guitars and basses without overdriving or distorting, while the gain halos make it easy to see the input level. The balanced outputs are hum-free when connected to balanced studio monitor inputs, guaranteeing perfect audio reproduction. But what exactly is the difference between the third and the previous generation?
In general, all users of the Scarlett series benefit from improved audio performance. The Scarlett 3rd
The redesigned mic preamps can emulate the Air effect of Focusrite's original ISA mic preamp at Bedadrf, giving your vocal and acoustic recordings a more transparent sound.
On board is a so-called QuickStart tool from Focusrite, which guides the customer through the registration and setup of software and drivers.
Latency is one of the most common problems when recording, so the USB drivers have been redesigned once again. Now songs can be recorded and listened to in real-time, while at the same time even more plug-ins can be switched on than before.
As with previous generations, each Scarlett product comes with a software package to get you started. Included are products from Softube, XLN Audio, Antares, Brainworx,
Additional scope of delivery:
I am a novice when using interfaces and guitar. The interface arrived promptly and was a good price. The set up is quite straight forward and there are video tutorials on how to get started.
However, you really do need proper headphones or monitor speakers which need to be attached directly to the interface. Using a bluetooth speaker causes latency despite reducing sample and buffer size and my external speaker didn’t really work either.
Overall good but quite particular about how you can listen to yourself play.
I replaced my old Line 6 UX1 with the Solo as I needed to change the guitar amp software and that the UX1 was over 10 years old, so time for a new device. Its very well made, looks really professional and the setup is a breeze. I use Ableton Live 9
and Neural DSP software through this and found zero issues. I would recommend this for either entry level use or for someone who just needs the single instrument input and option to mic up also, you wont be disappointed.
This product is one that was highly recommended with every review and I the same. This product is easy to set up and perfect for every use it is made for!
