Richie Kotzen Signature Telecaster with DiMarzio pickups and gold hardware
Richie Kotzen is considered one of the best and most versatile guitarists and achieved great success both with his solo albums and as a member of bands like Mr. Big or Poison. In cooperation with Fender, he developed the Fender Richie Kotzen Telecaster Brown Sunburst based on the classic Fifties design, which meets his high demands on sound and handling. The instrument features an ash body crowned by a top of visually appealing flamed maple. The maple neck is bolted to the body in Fender tradition and carries a maple fretboard fitted with 22 jumbo frets, while the flat 12" fretboard radius ensures supreme playability when playing technically demanding lines.
The pickups used on the Fender Richie Kotzen Telecaster Brown Sunburst are a DiMarzio DP173 Twang King on the neck and a DiMarzio Chopper T in the bridge position. The Twang King delivers the characteristic Telecaster sound with a lot of twang, but it reacts better to the velocity and has a higher dynamic. The Chopper T, on the other hand, is a humbucker in single-coil format that delivers a Telecaster sound on steroids. It offers a pronounced midrange and a defined low end, which give it enormous punch and assertiveness.
