Accurate Fender Masterbuilt Replica Alligator Stratocaster
The first modified electric guitar in the Grateful Dead guitarist's repertoire, the Alligator Stratocaster made music history with its characterful sound and custom details on the legendary Europe '72 tour. A Pawn Shop 1957 Stratocaster served as the basis for the Alligator, which enjoyed both tonal and visual modifications over three years by Garcia and luthier Doug Irwin. With the Fender Jerry Garcia Alligator Strat Relic MN Aged Natural, the FenderCustom Shop and master builder Austin MacNutt now present a replica of this legendary electric guitar, accurate down to the smallest detail, based on the specifications and modifications of the original Alligator Stratocaster, which can tell as many stories as Garcia's roadies themselves.
Featuring the iconic Grateful Dead sound of the Stratoblaster preamp and authentic lacquer finish, the Jerry Garcia Stratocaster from the Fender Custom Shop offers an unparalleled playing experience.
From the condition of the brass to Jerry's use marks, every detail of the Alligator Strat was matched to the original instrument by master builder Austin MacNutt.
Construction and neck texture
Classic specifications provide the familiar Vintage Fender feel of a '57 Stratocaster. Thus, the Custom Shop Jerry Garcia electric guitar is composed of an ash body and a typical bolt-on solid neck made of Rift Sawn Maple that sits low in the hand in the historically correct soft 'V' neck profile. 21 medium vintage frets sit on the maple fingerboard, which offers optimal playing conditions thanks to a 7.25-inch radius and the skilful Relic finish. The headstock also features a brass nut and a brass tailpiece, which stabilizes the strings raised by Schaller M6 locking tuners.
