For the construction of the Custom '59 Stratocaster, masterbuilder Greg Fessler chooses first-class woods that promise a resonant sound with a lively response. The body is made of light ash wood, whose grain remains tangible due to the gauzy nitro finish, while intensely figured bird's-eye maple is used for the neck. The pleasantly round "'60s Style Oval C" profile and the subtle 9.5" to 12" compound radius of the rosewood fingerboard promise highly comfortable playing characteristics.

To ensure that the Custom '59 Stratocaster covers the most sought-after tones of the Strat in the highest quality since 1954, three optimally matched Custom Shop Single Coils. In neck position a Hand-Wound '69 Strat Single Coil delivers a bell-clear sound with lively dynamics, while in middle position a Hand-Wound Fat '50s Single Coil promises a full sound. At the bridge, on the other hand, the Hand-Wound Texas Special Single Coil with raised Output provides juicy Overdrive sounds with the scorching heat of the Texas desert wind. A treble-bleed circuit on the volume knob also prevents the sound from losing treble and definition when the volume is turned down.
