Fender 1962 Relic Strat with thermally treated wood
Body and neck of this Fender 1962 Relic Stratocaster are made of thermally treated wood. The alder of the body and the maple of the neck are"baked" in a vacuum oven, whereby the wood loses a large part of its residual moisture and thus becomes insensitive to climate fluctuations. At the same time, "roasting" promotes a particularly lively response and even sustain in the sound. With the "Large C" profile, the neck also lies firmly in the hand, so that on the historically correct "Round Laminated" rosewood fretboard every lick comes out of your fingers.
Three hand-wound single coils with Tone Saver and Greasebucket Circuit provide versatile sounds with a clear vintage touch.
Hand-wound single coil pickups and modern circuitry
As pickups for the 1962 Relic Stratocaster Burgundy Mist Metallic spring, the Custom Shop Team chose three hand-wound single coil pickups. With a Fender '60s Strat Single Coil on the neck, a '65 Strat Single Coil in the middle and a '69 Strat Single Coil on the bridge, authentic vintage sounds with the typical clarity are available. The inverse winding and polarity of the middle pickups (Reverse Wound/Reverse Polarity (RWRP) make the intermediate positions hum-free. In addition, the Fender 1962 Relic Strat has a modernized circuit with Tone Saver and Greasebucket Circuit. While the former prevents loss of treble when the volume control is turned back, the latter prevents overemphasis of the bass when playing with the tone controls, so that the sound never becomes muddy.
