With the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW Super Faded Aged Fiesta Red #CZ547785, the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California presents a classic J-Bass with sought-after specifications from the early sixties. The traditional ingredients of Jazz Bass come together here in the context of a two-piece alder body with a quad-bolted Quarter Sawn Maple neck and hand-wound Vintage-Style Jazz Bass single coils to get as close as possible to the sound and feel of those first J-Bass models. Visually, the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW has a lot to offer as well, with authentically aged Heavy Relic Finish and a complete hardware setup including ashtray and pickup cover. Naturally, the instrument comes as a product of the Fender Custom Shop and comes in a Fender Deluxe Hardshell Case and with a certificate of authenticity signed by Fender Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, Tony Sapien.
With tried-and-true componenets of alder and maple, historically accurate electronics and an authentic Heavy Relic finish, the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass RW offers the look, sound and feel of the first Jazz basses.
The neck is made of radial sawn maple and is bolted to the alder body with a 4-bolt Custom Shop neck plate.

The basic construction of the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic Fiesta Red consists of an alder body built from two pieces and selected for weight, grain and resonance characteristics. Thanks to its thin nitro finish with clear Heavy Relic aging, the Jazz Bass is particularly resonant and presents the subtle grain of the body wood in places. The back of the original '60s J-Bass U-profile neck made of radially sawn maple has also been artificially aged and conveys the smooth feeling of an instrument that has been played for decades.
Under the ashtray and pickup cover, two hand-wound vintage-style Jazz Bass single coils with classic electronics provide the J-Bass' enormous tonal range.
Handwound Vintage-Style Jazz Bass Single Coils
For the typically clear and defined sound of the early Jazz bass, the Custom Shop uses two Vintage-Style single coils hand-wound especially for the model, which skilfully capture the charm of the four-string classic. This also makes use of the electronic layout used until 1962 with concentric double-stack potentiometers for individual control of volume and tone fade for both pickups. This setup gives the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW its enormously broad tonal palette, providing the right sound for almost any modern genre.
