FENDER 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW Aged Sherwood Green Metallic #CZ547363
Custom Shop Jazz Bass with handwound vintage-style single coils and heavy relic nitro finish, including case and certificate.
With the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW Aged Sherwood Green Metallic #CZ547363, the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California presents a classic J-Bass with desirable specifications from the early sixties. The traditional ingredients of the Jazz Bass come together here as part of a two-piece alder body with a four-bolt Quarter Sawn maple neck and hand-wound vintage-style Jazz Bass single coils to get as close as possible to the sound and feel of those first J-Bass models. The Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW also has a lot to offer in terms of looks, with an authentically aged Heavy Relic finish and a coherent hardware setup including ashtray and pickup cover. Of course, the instrument comes as an offshoot of the Fender Custom Shop including Fender Deluxe Hardshell Case and a signed certificate of authenticity.
With proven ingredients in alder and maple, historically accurate electronics and an authentic Heavy Relic finish, the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass RW offers the look, sound and feel of the first Jazz basses.
The neck is made of radial sawn maple and is bolted to the alder body with a 4-bolt Custom Shop neck plate.
Two-piece Alder & Radial Sawn Maple.
The basic construction of the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic Sherwood Green Metallic consists of an alder body built in two pieces and selected for weight, grain and resonance characteristics. Thanks to its thin nitro finish with clear Heavy Relic aging, the Jazz Bass is particularly resonant and presents the subtle grain of the body wood. The back of the original '60s J-Bass U-profile neck made of radially sawn maple has also been artificially aged and conveys the smooth feeling of an instrument that has been played for decades.
Under the ashtray and pickup cover, two hand-wound vintage-style Jazz Bass single coils with classic electronics provide the J-Bass' enormous tonal range.
Handwound Vintage-Style Jazz Bass Single Coils
For the typically clear and defined sound of the early Jazz Bass, the Custom Shop relies on two Vintage-style single coils hand-wound especially for the model, which skilfully capture the charm of the four-string classic. This also makes use of the electronic layout used until 1962, with concentric double-stack potentiometers for individual control of volume and tone blend for both pickups. This setup gives the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW its enormously broad tonal palette, providing the right sound for almost any modern genre.
Four open-gear vintage-style tuners are part of the traditional hardware setup of the 1960 Jazz Bass.
Authentic hardware equipment of the early sixties
The hardware setup of the Fender 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic RW is also kept in its original configuration of the early '60s instruments. Only classic vintage-style parts in the form of a vintage-style 4-saddle Jazz Bass bridge and traditional Open-Gear vintage-style tuners are on board the 1960 J-Bass, while the classic 'ashtray cover' with matching pickup cover in chrome finish harmoniously complete the instrument's mounting parts. Of course, the additional Tug Bar on the Tortoiseshell pickguard is not to be missed!
