The Fender '55 Precision Bass Relic MN Vintage Blonde #R138367 presents the legendary 'Preci' as it was built in the golden era of the fifties and impresses with first-class vintage sounds and incomparable playability. In contrast to modern P-basses, the '55 Precision Bass built in the FenderCustom store in Corona, California, has a clear relationship to the equally legendary Telecaster electric guitar and remains true to the historical specifications in its features: a strong neck made of radially sawn maple, a split coil wound according to the classic recipe and traditional hardware parts with the chrome covers that were common at the time to create a genuine Mid Fifties Preci with unmistakable vintage DNA.
The ash body in combination with the maple neck in the powerful '51 Precision Bass U-neck profile ensures proven sound characteristics and an unmistakable P-Bass feel.
Traditional doublecut design made of ash
The body of the Fender '55 Precision Bass Relic MN Vintage Blonde follows the classic design of the Mid Fifties Preci and is composed of two selected pieces of high-quality ash for proven sound characteristics. For the construction of the one-piece neck, however, the FenderCustom store relies on radially sawn maple (quarter sawn maple) with vertical growth rings from headstock to neck foot. Thanks to the strong '51 Precision Bass U-neck profile, the back of the neck offers an unmistakable vintage feel for the thumb rest, while the vintage fingerboard radius of 7.25 inches corresponds to the traditional dimensions of early Fender instruments.
Under the chrome cover in the middle position sits a sound-giving Fender '55 P-Bass Relic split-coil pickup for versatile Preci sounds.
Fender '55 P-Bass Relic Split-Coil
In classic Preci style, the Fender '55 Precision Bass Relic MN Vintage Blonde draws all its multi-faceted sounds from a single Fender '55 P-Bass Relic split-coil pickup, which is hidden under the chrome cover in the middle position. Key to its success are the materials and winding techniques used to get as close as possible to the original pickups of the era. Controlled via its volume control and additional treble control, the pickup stakes out an enormously broad tonal claim and offers almost everything a bassist's heart desires, from the popular 'Preci growl' to soft, jazzy sounds.
Authentic early fifties hardware parts
It goes without saying that a true '55 Precision Bass stands out from its more modern siblings thanks to its unique hardware features. The Fender '55 Precision Bass Relic MN Vintage Blonde naturally features the unmistakable black pickguard made of phenolic resin, while the separate control plate houses the two volume and tone controls. On the headstock, on the other hand, four vintage-style tuners with Vintage Precision Bass wings ensure reliable tuning stability and the classic headstock look. The hardware equipment of the Fender '55 Precision Bass is completed by two classic chrome covers that cover the pickup and the bridge.
