The unit offers a lot of space for the price. However few things noticed that didnt like. the speakers stands cannot hold the weight of the monitors and fall down to basis level even if tight. the computer screen is too high and far away from sitting position. I have an imac 21 inch, and sometimes have difficulties seeing stuff on the screen. building instructions were very clear and not difficult to build. overall neutrally satisfied.
I have owned this desk for about 10 years now and I think it is about time for a review. This desk has been part of my home-studio setup, and I have moved house about 5 times in that time, the desk has stood up against multiple dismantlements and rebuilds, for the most part.
The desk is built and supported on the 2 angled legs, wich are quite robust, though if you tighten the bolts that hold everything on the legs you will dent the legs. the fact that you can't tighten those bolts too hard makes for a slight unstability overall, and can make the desk wobble a bit (only side to side though)
the desk tops and monitor stands are all nicely finished pressed wood planks with a thick rubber border on the sides and a nice finish on both sides. these are mounted to metal brackets that hold on to the 2 feet. The mounting between these brackets and the planks are to be srewed together by hand without pre-drilled holes, so take your time to measure things out. Again, take your time to measure things out, and it's best to put the biggest tabletop on the brackets with the brackets in their correct place on the legs.
a few small annoyances about this desk;
1. the mounting place for the racks is right in front of you and (depending on your set height) level with the desktop, wich makes that you can not realy put anything of substance on the desk without blocking your access to the rack units.
2. the top most plank is too high imo for a computer screen to be put there.
3. the keyboard tray is big enough for my 49 keys midi keyboard and this is very usefull but the rails that slide it are a bit weak and can not hold too much weight when fully extented. it's not a problem for holding the gear itself but it might bend or break when you put too much pressure on it.
4. I found the keyboard tray to be a bit too low even with the desktop in its highest position and eventualy got rid of it. (I did realy like it for a while, your mileage may differ)
5. the desk sits far away from the back wall it is stood against. the top desk is 61cm deep, but with everything mounted and the desk stood against a wall, the front of the desk sits about 1m away from that wall. depending on the room, this might be an issue.
Overall I do realy like this desk, I have used it for almost 10 years for a reason. I have learned to live with the issues I have mentioned above, and fully made this desk my own. The desktop itself is huge and you won't soon run out of space for stuff. the monitor stands are excellent and are perfectly placed for the best monitoring experience, the racks are a great addition, especially considering how much this much rack space can cost on it's own and I love the lowest bar for resting my feet upon,
In short; almost 10 years ago I drove from Belgium to Cologne with 2 friends, only to pick up this desk (and visit the store offcourse) and I have never regretted it.
This desk has an amazing quality. I have looked for a desk to my homestudio for many years, but they were always too expensive. This one is very cheap and the quality is superb. It is very big as well!
