Epiphone Inspired by Gibson
This replica of the famous 1958 Korina Explorer is the result of a collaboration between the GibsonCustom store and Epiphone. It is a historically accurate version with Mallory capacitors, Gibson burstbucker pickups and a Aged gloss finish. Although the model was produced only 19 times in the year of its first edition, it has achieved an absolute cult status in the last 60 years due to its shape and rarity. Thanks to the Epiphone x Gibson Custom Shop reissue, this impressive Explorer made of Korina wood can now be played by modern fans of rock history and vintage sound. Both body and set neck in long-neck tenon are made of the typical Korina wood and finished with a Aged Gloss Finish, which highlights the individual grain of each Explorer from this series. Furthermore, the electric guitar is equipped with Epiphone x GibsonHardware and delivers a distinctive sound through its historic electronics with gold Hardware.
The 1958 Korina Explorer for left-handers is the first accurate reissue of this electric guitar under Epiphone made of Korina wood with white pickguard
Gibson Burstbucker II and III
For the equipment and Hardware of the 1958 Korina Explorer from Epiphone paid attention to qualitative high quality. In neck and bridge position sit two burstbuckers, directly from Gibson, which reproduce with Alnico-2 magnets a warm sound with rich overtones in the style of the original Gibson PAF pickups. Both pickups are controlled via CTS potentiometers with Mallory capacitors and Switchcraftoutput jack. However, the burstbuckers are particularly well suited for overdrive sounds with a strong character of their own for rock, blues, metal and everything in between.
The features of the Epiphone x Gibson 1958 Korina are completed by the gold hardware
Gold Hardware and features
Gold alloy hardware faithfully accents the 1958 Kona Explorer, with a GibsonABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and Epiphone Deluxe tuners, which, along with LockTone Stopbar, provide robust tone and improved Sustain. Three stylish black-top-hat Volume and Master Tone knobs and 3-way switches allow the Explorer sound to be further adjusted and personalized. Completing their features is an Epiphone x GibsonCustom Shop logo and padded guitar case in the original 1958 design.
The "field hockey stick" or "banana" headstock is a key feature of the 1958 Explorer
Traditional design
The 1958 Korina Explorer was considered too modern and futuristic after its initial release, but offers a special vintage feel these days. Epiphone stayed true to the original specifications of the Gibson model, with set neck, Indian Laurelfretboard and 22 medium Jumbo frets, providing an authentic neck profile for comfortable playing characteristics. The white pickguard and Aged Gloss finish give the Explorer the final touch with a lot of personality. Of course the long field hockey stick headstock is also present in this version.
